
Uganda Launches Vaccination Campaign Against M-Flower Virus Outbreak

uganda - Uganda initiates the first phase of a vaccination campaign to combat the M-flower virus outbreak, following a surge in cases linked to December 2024 festivals.
Uganda's Fight Against M-Flower Virus
Uganda has commenced a vaccination campaign to combat the M-flower virus outbreak, with 2,000 donated doses being administered to a thousand individuals. The Uganda Ministry of Health reported an increase in M-flower virus cases following the December 2024 festivals.
The vaccination campaign targeting high-risk groups and healthcare workers has begun in Kampala as part of the efforts to curb the outbreak. Since July 2024, 2,462 M-flower cases have been identified, resulting in 16 fatalities.
M-Flower Virus:
The M-flower virus is transmitted from rodents and infected individuals. Touching body rashes caused by the virus, using contaminated items, and contact with bodily fluids are major transmission routes.
Initial symptoms can appear within 5 to 21 days after exposure, including high fever, headache, back and muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, chills, tremors, and chickenpox-like blisters on the skin.
