Uber accused of espionage practices

san francisco - Technology company Uber has spied worldwide rivals. This happened via a network of spies that would have been trained by the American intelligence service CIA. That is what a former employee of the company behind the taxi app says in a letter. The letter has been submitted as evidence in a lawsuit.

Uber is involved in a lawsuit with Alphabet subsidiary Waymo, which deals with self-driving cars. Waymo accuses Uber of having stolen sensitive business information. Uber would have used, among other things, hacking, bribery and people who pretended to be taxi drivers in order to pick up sensitive information about rivals.

This information was then passed on to the former CEO of Uber, Travis Kalanick. Uber says in a reaction that if there had been any spying of rivals in the past, this would have stopped under the new management.
