paris - The French telecom company Bouygues is working on a takeover of the French branch of telecom and cable company Altice. Bouygues, according to insiders, spoke with the investment company CVC Capital Partners about a joint bid on the plumbing business unit.

The conversations are still at an early stage. It is not yet certain that the parties will continue their interest in Altice France, which mainly consists of telecom company SFR. Altice and CVC could not respond immediately. A spokesperson for Bouygues said that options are always looked at in the market.
