Two detainees executed in Arkansas

little rock - In the American state of Arkansas, two prisoners were executed on Monday (local time). 52-year-old Jack Jones and 46-year-old Marcel Williams were given a deadly injection.

The execution of Williams was initially postponed because, according to his lawyer, Jones had been in trouble. He would have moved for more than five minutes after having received a sleeping drug. An hour later, the same judge decided that it should be possible.

The two executions are part of a plan to expel eight detainees in a period of eleven days. The state of Arkansas is in a hurry because the shelf life of one of the resources used expires at the end of April.

The pharmaceutical company McKesson previously managed to stop using one of the three resources needed for the executions. Arkansas would have purchased the muscle relaxant vecuronium bromide under false pretenses. McKesson says the drug would not have been sold to Arkansas if the company had known what it would be used for. However, the Supreme Court ruled that the muscle relaxant may still be injected into the executions.
