istanbul - The Turkish opposition wants more than 600,000 observers to be deployed during the national elections next Sunday. The largest opposition party, CHP, wants two observers at each of the more than 180,000 polling stations. In addition to those more than 360,000 observers, various political parties want more observers from their party.

An NGO wants to train 40,000 volunteers to become election observers until the elections. They would then have to assess the fairness of the elections on behalf of an opposition party.

This year, for the first time, there is an organization in Turkey that monitors whether the elections are fair. The group was founded by opposition parties, NGOs, trade unions and media companies.
