salahaddin, iraq - Turkish declared as the official language in the city of Salahaddin, Iraq, recognizing the rights of Turkmen community.

Turkish Becomes Official Language in Salahaddin

In a recent development, Turkish has been declared as the official language in the city of Salahaddin, Iraq. This decision comes as a recognition of the rights of the Turkmen community, the second largest ethnic group in the region.

Former Turkmen member of the Iraqi Parliament, Fevzi Ekrem Terzi, emphasized that this move is a natural and constitutional right of the Turkmen people, who constitute the third ethnic group in Iraq. He stated that the Turkmen community should receive their rights as outlined in the constitution.

The initiative to recognize Turkish as an official language was spearheaded by Atif Tuzlu, a Turkmen member of the Salahaddin Provincial Council. This decision allows the usage of Turkish in official correspondence within government institutions.
