Turkey threatens Greece over 'couppleger'

World December 30, 2017 19:21

ankara - Turkey is furious about Greece's decision to grant asylum to a former Turkish soldier. Turkey says the man was involved in the failed coup attempt in Turkey in July 2016.

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Athens decision affected the relationship between the two countries and cooperation on regional issues. 'With this decision, Greece has once again shown that it is a country that protects and embraces coup plotters,' the ministry said in a statement.

The Turkish who received asylum had fled to Greece after the coup attempt with seven other Turkish soldiers. Ankara earlier in vain asked for the extradition of the military.
