ankara - Turkey conducted airstrikes on targets in Syria and Iraq, citing self-defense rights under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. Five people were killed and 22 wounded in an attack near Ankara.

Turkey carried out attacks on targets in Syria and Iraq on Wednesday. According to a statement from the ministry, 'In accordance with our right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, an air operation was conducted on October 23, 2024, against terrorist targets in Northern Iraq and Syria, successfully destroying a total of 32 terrorist targets.' The ministry added that the air operations are ongoing.

During the attack on Wednesday in Turkey, at least five people were killed and 22 wounded. The attack took place at a Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) factory near Ankara. Two assailants, a man and a woman who were killed after the attack, opened fire, resulting in multiple exchanges of gunfire.
