ankara - The Turkish government has reacted furiously to the conviction of Mehmet Hakan Atilla, a Turkish banker stuck in the United States. There, a court found him guilty on Wednesday of being involved in circumventing US sanctions against Iran.
The lawsuit has put pressure on the relationship between the countries. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the evidence against the driver of the Turkish state bank Halkbank 'fake'. The department also said that there is 'unprecedented interference in an internal Turkish affair'.
