london - The parents of the nearly eleven month old terminal baby Charlie Gard from England can call Donald Trump for help. That made the US president know via Twitter.

According to a spokesman for the White House, the president did not seek direct contact with the parents. Trump would not want the parents to feel busy. Other American officials spoke to the parents.

The terminally ill baby does not have to be kept alive for an experimental treatment in the US, judged the European Court of Human Rights last week. This means that doctors can stop the medical support that the 10-month-old boy alive.

Doctors do not see treatment options and want to let the child die dignified. The parents think differently and want the baby to the United States. They have collected money for treatment. If they do not finally get permission to travel with the baby to the US, they want to let Charlie die at home. But by the judgment of the judge, that wish also seems impossible.\n  \n   \n    \n    \n   \n   \n   \n      \n   \n     Parents Chris Gard and Connie Yates with their son in the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.\n    \n   \n     Photo: AP\n    \n   \n   \n   \n      \n   \n     The terminally ill baby Charlie Gard in a London hospital.\n    \n   \n     Photo: AP
