united states - US President-elect Donald Trump announced that he will sign an executive order on Monday delaying the TikTok ban.

Trump's Decision on TikTok Ban

Donald Trump, the elected president of the US, stated that he will sign an executive order on Monday to delay the TikTok ban. However, he demanded that half of the company be owned by Americans. Trump emphasized the importance of not letting TikTok 'in the dark' and mentioned that the executive order will extend the implementation of the ban to allow for a national security deal. He also confirmed that the supporting companies for preventing TikTok from being banned will not have legal responsibilities. Trump expressed the requirement for a 50% ownership stake in an American joint venture, stating that this would save TikTok, keep it in good hands, and allow it to thrive.

Musk's Stance on TikTok Ban

Elon Musk, the owner of social media platform X, also commented on the potential TikTok ban in the US. Musk, who has long been against the TikTok ban as it contradicts freedom of expression, highlighted the imbalance in allowing TikTok to operate in America while preventing X from operating in China.

TikTok Access Blocked in the US

The Chinese social sharing app TikTok was blocked in the US under a law that stipulates its ban if not sold to an American company. With over 170 million users in the US, those trying to access TikTok are greeted with a message stating the ban due to legislation. The US Supreme Court approved the enforcement of the law on Friday.
