washington, riyadh - Reports suggest Donald Trump is dropping Joe Biden's requirement for Saudi Arabia to recognize Israel in a potential nuclear agreement with the US. The move could impact Middle East relations.

Trump to Drop Biden's Israel Recognition Demand for Saudi Arabia

Sources familiar with the matter reveal that Washington is likely to abandon a key demand linked to Israel in talks with Saudi Arabia. The previous Biden administration had tied Israel's normalization to nuclear negotiations.

Saudi Arabia's Stance

Saudi Arabia has insisted on not recognizing Israel without a Palestinian state, complicating efforts to expand the Abraham Accords brokered by Trump. Despite dropping the normalization demand, a deal on civil nuclear cooperation between the US and Saudi Arabia remains uncertain, a source suggests.

The issue is separate from a broader defense pact between the two nations.
