washington - President Trump calls for Americans to switch back to plastic disposable straws, criticizing paper straws.

Trump's Initiative

President Donald Trump aims to reverse the ban on plastic disposable straws, advocating for their convenience over paper alternatives. Trump argues that paper straws are ineffective and proposes a return to plastic straws.

During his term, Joe Biden attempted to reduce the use of single-use plastics to combat environmental pollution, mandating the use of paper straws. However, Trump's recent stance opposes this measure.

In the European Union, plastic straws have been banned for several years. Concerns have been raised by the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority in 2022 regarding the safety of paper straws, particularly for children and individuals with disabilities, due to potential choking hazards.
