During the peak of the pandemic when tests were hard to come by, former US President Donald Trump personally dispatched a shipment of tests to Russia for President Vladimir Putin, according to reports.

Putin was reportedly extremely concerned about the virus and accepted the Covid tests from then-President Trump, as detailed in Woodward's book. However, the Russian president advised Trump to keep the action secret, not out of his own fear of political repercussions, but because he was concerned about potential backlash Trump might face.

An anonymous source mentioned in the book also revealed that Trump has had around seven phone conversations with Putin since leaving the White House in 2021. The source stated that earlier this year, Trump cleared a room for himself to have a personal conversation with the Russian leader.
