Trump prohibits the acquisition of Qualcomm by Broadcom

washington - US President Donald Trump has signed a decree that blocks the acquisition of Qualcomm by chip giant Broadcom. The state security of the US would be involved in the billions takeover, is stated in the decree.

Trump follows the advice of the American government body CFIUS that investigates acquisitions by foreign companies. Broadcom is originally an American company, but is in Singaporean hands. However, Broadcom intends to formally establish itself again in the US.

Qualcomm was not yet keen on the approach by Broadcom. One of the stumbling blocks was the purchase price.
