washington - President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly planning to fire all assistants who worked with prosecutor Jack Smith once he assumes office in January.

According to reports, Trump's decision seems to be driven by personal grievances rather than ideology or policy plans. Trump has previously claimed to be a victim of a 'political witch hunt.' Prosecutor Smith is currently leading two cases related to the withholding of secret documents and Trump's efforts to remain in power after his defeat in the 2020 election.

Sources suggest that Trump intends to 'clean house' of those he believes were targeting him once he becomes president. However, it remains unclear whether Trump can easily dismiss officials who have been working at the Department of Justice for years, as reported by The Washington Post.

The New York Times previously reported that Smith is considering resigning before Trump assumes office. Given that the Department of Justice, where Smith is employed, does not prosecute sitting presidents, the role of the special prosecutor appears to be diminishing. Smith reportedly wants to avoid being 'fired within two seconds,' according to the newspaper.
