Trump issues meeting with Rosenstein

washington - US President Donald Trump outlines his planned meeting with Deputy Minister Rod Rosenstein (Justice). He would actually discuss his future with the president on Thursday, but according to the White House, due to the session on the Kavanaugh case, it was decided to postpone it.

American media reported Monday that Rosenstein had offered to resign. The reason for this is a report in The New York Times that Rosenstein had proposed last year secretly to make recordings of Trump to show that it is unsuitable for the presidential office.

The White House reports that Rosenstein and Trump will meet each other next week. Within the White House it would be doubted whether it would be beneficial to let Rosenstein leave now. That would mean more unrest in the run-up to the important congressional elections in November.

If Rosenstein has to clear the field, this will have consequences for the investigation into possible Russian influence on the American presidential election. The vice minister is responsible for that, because his political boss Jeff Sessions has withdrawn.
