President Donald Trump announced a rate of 25% for steel and 10% for aluminum. The American president told the bosses of the American steel industry this Thursday.

With the levies, Trump wants to support the American steel and aluminum industry. According to the president, that industry has been treated unfairly by other countries for decades. 'You get protection for the first time and for a long time,' Trump told them.

Earlier, Trump already tweeted that our steel and aluminum industries (and many other industries) have been decimated in recent decades as a result of unfair trade and bad politics. We want free, fair and smart trade ', according to the President.

Cfo Felipe Dutra from AB inbev, the world's largest brewer, warned Trump Thursday that the intention to raise aluminum prices will cost thousands of American jobs and increase the cost to American beer brewers by millions of dollars. Approximately 2 million employees are dependent on American brewers, 'Dutra warned. He asked Trump to abandon the charges.

He was not the only one. Many foreign delegations, including the Mexican minister of economy, have expressed their concerns lately. Not all members of the Republican party are also happy with the measure. They fear that it will provoke taxes from other countries and increase the prices of consumer goods.

Trump's action is not exposed to danger. He risks a trade war with China, the largest producer of steel and aluminum in the world. China is thinking about levies on sorghum and soybeans, which American farmers will not be happy about.
