hanoi - US President Donald Trump is willing to act as a mediator in the South China Sea conflict. That said Trump Sunday in Hanoi at the start of a meeting with Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang.
'If I can help as a mediator, let me know,' Trump offered the helping hand, including Vietnam and China claiming the right to the South China Sea. Beijing believes that it is entitled to the sea and Trump acknowledged that That attitude gives trouble. 'But I'm a very good mediator and referee.'
The South China Sea is rich in fish, petroleum and natural gas and hence of enormous economic significance. In addition to China and Vietnam, there are Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, for preserving water. There are continuous reports of casualties that sometimes involve victims.
