middle east, israel, qatar, riyadh, syria - US President Donald Trump's envoy delivers an ultimatum to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding a ceasefire agreement with Hamas.

In a recent development, it has been reported that US President Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Witkoff conveyed Trump's message that he wants to see a prisoner deal on his desk by January 20, the day of the presidential inauguration. Both sides are urged to show flexibility in order to reach an agreement.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that Mossad Chief David Barnea, IDF Prisoner of War responsible Major General Nitzan Alon, and political advisor Ophir Falk are being sent to Doha, Qatar to engage in efforts to reach an agreement with Hamas.

According to the UK Foreign Office, Minister Lammy will visit Riyadh to participate in a meeting on Syria. The discussions are expected to focus on mechanisms to hold the Assad regime accountable for its crimes against the Syrian people and to support interim Syrian governance.

Meanwhile, negotiations between Israel and Hamas regarding a ceasefire and prisoner exchange continue. A high-level Hamas official stated to Qatari media that the prisoner-for-ceasefire deal is complete, pending approval from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Details of the agreement remain undisclosed.
