washington - Former President Trump dismisses Dutch director Kim Sajet of the National Portrait Gallery, citing her focus on diversity and inclusion as unsuitable for the role.

Trump Dismisses Dutch Director Kim Sajet Over Diversity and Inclusion Stance

Former President Trump has publicly announced on Truth Social that he considers Kim Sajet, the Dutch national heading the National Portrait Gallery, unsuitable for her emphasis on diversity and inclusion in her policies.

Advocating Diversity and Inclusion

Sajet has previously expressed the importance of reflecting the contributions of women and African Americans in the country's history within the museum's collection.

The National Portrait Gallery, located in Washington, houses thousands of paintings depicting significant American figures who have shaped the nation's history, including politicians, scientists, activists, and artists.

Trump's Stance on Diversity

Since his return to the White House, Trump has been actively dismantling diversity initiatives and programs, raising questions about his motive behind dismissing Sajet.

It remains unclear why Trump decided to fire Sajet and whether he has the authority to do so, despite the gallery receiving funding from the US Congress.

The Smithsonian Institution, under which the National Portrait Gallery operates, has not yet responded to the news of Sajet's dismissal. This is not the first instance of Trump removing individuals from art institutions.
