Trump confesses: son sought dirt over Clinton

washington - US President Donald Trump for the first time admitted that his son Donald in 2016 was looking for incriminating information about Hillary Clinton during the meeting with a Russian lawyer. 'It was completely legal and always happens in political campaigns', according to Trump Sunday on Twitter.

The president denied Sunday that he made this statement because of reports in the Washington Post and on CNN that he is afraid his son is in 'legal problems.'

Trump has always said that the meeting between Donald junior and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaja was about adopting Russian children by Americans. He also always insisted that he heard a lot later about the meeting in the Trump Tower, which took place in the run-up to the presidential elections in 2016.

Trump junior and others have long argued that the meeting was meant to 'find dirt' about political opponents. Last month the president reacted angrily to the claim that he had been informed in advance of the controversial meeting of his son and Veselnitskaya.
