washington - Vice President Kamala Harris continues to lead nationally in polls against her Republican rival Donald Trump, but the swing states show a close race with conflicting results.

Vice President Kamala Harris is still ahead of Donald Trump in national polls, but the swing states reveal a tight race, according to the latest polls from American news outlets.

In Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Nevada, the 59-year-old Harris leads by less than a percentage point. Donald Trump is experiencing a similar situation in Georgia and North Carolina. In Arizona, he seems to have a slightly more comfortable lead, according to the renowned polling agency FiveThirtyEight, which collaborates with ABC News and BBC. Harris is given a 55 percent chance of winning the elections, compared to Trump's 45 percent.

However, The Wall Street Journal presents different predictions. Harris is also said to lead (slightly) in Arizona and Georgia. Trump, on the other hand, seems to be coming out stronger in Nevada and Pennsylvania, which could be crucial in determining the final election outcome. The state of Pennsylvania, with its 19 electoral college votes, was won by Joe Biden in 2020, the state of his birth. Georgia, with 16 electoral college votes, also surprisingly went to the Democrat. Whether Harris can repeat this feat remains uncertain, as the swing states' results will be decisive.

According to The WSJ, voters in swing states tend to trust major issues like the economy and immigration more to Donald Trump. However, they also see him as 'too extreme' compared to Kamala Harris. She, on the other hand, has the advantage of potentially becoming the first female president of the United States. According to the newspaper, she is much more likely to succeed than Joe Biden, who had a disastrous debate with Trump this summer.

It is noteworthy that presidential candidate Trump plans to campaign in the traditionally Democratic states of 'blue' New York and California, a move seen by many as a publicity stunt, especially considering that these states usually lean towards the Democrats. Trump expressed his belief, similar to four years ago, that he can win New York.

In Butler, Pennsylvania, where an assassination attempt on the American presidential candidate happened two months ago, Trump returned behind bulletproof glass, accompanied by Elon Musk.

The election day is set for November 5, just over three weeks away. A total of 538 electoral college votes are up for grabs. The candidate who reaches 270 electoral college votes from various states first will take office in the White House. The final results may take some time to be determined and could even last for days after the election day, unless a clear majority emerges for one of the candidates. However, such an outcome is currently not expected.
