washington - The White House under President Trump opens press events to influencers and bloggers, shifting focus to new media voices.

New Media Approach at White House

The staff of President Donald Trump is changing media access in the White House, welcoming influencers, bloggers, podcasters, and independent journalists to press conferences. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated that traditional media outlets are being given less space in favor of new media voices like social media influencers and podcasters. Leavitt described this shift as a 'revolutionary media approach' by the Trump administration.

This move signifies a departure from the past practice of giving priority to legacy media, as Leavitt highlighted that Americans now consume news through new media channels. The White House is embracing a more inclusive approach to media representation, with a focus on diverse voices and perspectives.

Unlike his successor and predecessor, Joe Biden, President Trump has been more accessible to journalists, holding frequent and lengthy press conferences where he engages with questions from various media representatives. Trump's approach to media interactions has been characterized by a confrontational style, often labeling journalists as 'enemies of the people' and accusing them of spreading misinformation. He has also called for the revocation of broadcasting licenses for media outlets he disagrees with.
