london, uk - Tottenham is set to sign João Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich, with the midfielder undergoing a medical ahead of a potential move. Palhinha, who joined Bayern last summer, is returning to the Premier League after a challenging season.

Tottenham Nearing Loan Signing of João Palhinha from Bayern Munich

Tottenham Hotspur is on the verge of securing the loan signing of João Palhinha from Bayern Munich, as the midfielder prepares for a medical examination in London. The move comes as Spurs aim to strengthen their squad for the upcoming Champions League campaign under new manager Thomas Frank.

Palhinha's Background and Previous Stints

João Palhinha, a Portugal international, made a high-profile move to Bayern Munich from Fulham last year in a deal valued at up to £47.4 million. Despite the significant transfer fee, Palhinha faced challenges in his debut season with Bayern, making only six starts in the Bundesliga.

Return to Premier League

With limited playing time at Bayern, the 30-year-old midfielder is now poised to return to the Premier League with Tottenham on a season-long loan. The agreement includes an option for Spurs to make the move permanent for €30 million. Palhinha's impressive stint at Fulham, where he made 79 appearances and scored eight goals, has paved the way for his return to London.

After a promising spell at Craven Cottage, Palhinha's move to Bayern did not yield the expected results, with the midfielder featuring in only 25 games for the German champions last season.
