- Tottenham Hotspur reaches an agreement to acquire Kevin Danso for €25 million, with the player joining initially on loan.

Tottenham Hotspur to Sign Kevin Danso

Tottenham Hotspur has finalized a deal worth €25 million to secure the services of centre-back Kevin Danso from Lens. Danso, 26, will join initially on loan with a purchase obligation in the summer. The Austrian international, previously close to joining Wolverhampton Wanderers, opted for a 5½-year contract with Spurs. His addition aims to bolster the squad amidst injury concerns, including Radu Dragusin's recent setback. Danso, who played for Southampton on loan in 2019-20 before joining Lens, has made 128 appearances for the French club and earned recognition in the Ligue 1 team of the year 2022-23. Spurs are actively seeking reinforcements across various positions before the transfer window closes, having recently missed out on Mathys Tel due to the player's rejection. The club's struggles in the Premier League, winning only one of their last 11 matches and currently placed 16th, have intensified pressure on head coach Ange Postecoglou. However, the return of several key players including Guglielmo Vicario, Brennan Johnson, Destiny Udogie, Wilson Odobert, Timo Werner, and James Maddison could provide a boost. Tottenham's upcoming fixture against Brentford will test their ability to turn the tide in the league.
