alfafar - In the aftermath of the devastating floods in Valencia, volunteers rush to help the affected villages that have been cut off from aid, leading to chaotic scenes resembling a war zone.

In the wake of the severe flooding in Valencia, which has left villages isolated and in desperate need of assistance, thousands of volunteers are mobilizing to provide aid to the affected areas, now referred to as 'ground zero'. Residents have appeared on Spanish national television, pleading for help amidst the devastation caused by the floods. They are facing a lack of electricity, water, and essential supplies, with no rescue workers having reached them yet.

Driven by a sense of solidarity and urgency, volunteers from Valencia are crossing the 'Puente de Torre' (Tower Bridge) to reach the Horta Sud region, where the villages of Catarroja, La Torre, Alfafar, and Bentüsser are located. They are distributing water, diapers, and food to the residents, often covering distances of six to ten kilometers on foot. Some volunteers carry brooms and shovels to assist with the cleanup efforts, aiming to restore a semblance of normalcy to the affected communities.

Despite authorities advising against using vehicles due to congested roads hindering emergency services, many volunteers are heading to the affected areas by car, leading to traffic jams and roadblocks. The influx of volunteers, transporting supplies to the disaster zone, has further complicated the situation.

The unfolding tragedy has prompted an outpouring of support from not just volunteers but also military personnel, police officers, and firefighters who are actively engaged in relief efforts. Additional military units have been deployed to clear blocked roads and railway lines, ensuring that aid can reach the isolated villages.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate missing individuals, although hopes of finding survivors diminish as time passes. Electricians are working tirelessly to restore power to the region, with the majority of households now reconnected to the grid. The community remains resilient in the face of adversity, with efforts focused on rebuilding and recovery.
