brussels - Tom Waes, a well-known Belgian TV presenter, has faced numerous life-threatening situations throughout his career, earning him the nickname 'a man with nine lives'. From daring stunts in a Boeing 737 to surviving a fall from a homemade airplane, Waes has defied the odds time and time again.

Described as 'a man with nine lives' by his friend Pascal Braeckman, Tom Waes, known for his TV show 'Tomtesterom', has had several close calls in his adventurous career. In one episode, he attempted to fly a Boeing 737 over Belgium, drawing criticism for his risky actions. Despite facing an investigation, Waes was not prosecuted.

Another episode saw Waes trying to fly a homemade plane, resulting in a crash landing and minor injuries. In a different TV show, 'Wauters versus Waes', he suffered a serious injury during a challenge with singer Koen Wauters, requiring six weeks of rest.

In 2008, Waes attempted to swim across the English Channel but had to abandon the challenge due to extreme cold. His diverse career also includes working as a nightclub bouncer and completing a grueling desert marathon.

Despite multiple accidents, including a recent bike crash, Waes remains grateful for his 'guardian angel' and credits his survival to wearing protective gear.
