Tibetan burns itself

beijing - A Tibetan has set himself on fire in the street. The man, a former monk, has thus been killed. According to the Tibetan government in exile, suicide was a message to the Beijing government to draw attention to the poor situation of Tibetans in Tibet.

The incident happened on the street in Aba on Saturday. It is the sixth Tibetan who commits suicide in this way this year. Since 2009 there have been about 150 self-immolations in Tibet. In solidarity with the family, the stores in the city stayed closed for two days.
