rome - Rescue workers found three hikers alive after the drama in a ravine in Calabria. They turned out to be camping north of the crash site. The young people of 21, 22 and 23 did not have access to their mobile phones there, local sources say to the ANSA news agency.

Minister Sergio Costa (Environment) says that now for '99.9 percent' is certain that there are no more missing. Nevertheless, the search continues as a precaution. 'Since no one keeps an eye on how many people are in the ravine, we can not exclude that someone was there,' said a civil protection officer.

In the gap, at least ten people were killed on Monday. After heavy rainfall, walkers were dragged along by a body of water. The authorities spoke earlier about eleven deceased victims, but later adjusted that number downwards. The emergency services searched through the night and dispatched helicopters in the morning to assist.

The civil protection service said that 23 people were saved. These include an eight-year-old girl who was found next to a body. Her parents probably died. The eight-year-old was 'somewhat conscious but in shock', a doctor told ANSA.

A total of eleven people were admitted to hospitals. Among the wounded is also a Dutchman, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was transferred to a hospital. According to Italian media, he has a broken basin.
