Three dead in Austrian mountains
ellmau - Two mountaineers and a hiker died in the Austrian Alps on Wednesday. According to the police of the Ellmau region, the duo wanted to go up along the so-called Kopftörlgrat in good weather on the Wilder Kaiser, without a fuse by ropes. They plunged hundreds of meters into the depths.
The identity of the man and the woman is not yet known because they had no papers with them. The local population could not give a definite answer and there was also no declaration of missing persons. Rescue workers will search for possible documents and instructions again on the spot.
A 67-year-old German was killed near Scharnitz during a hike on a high mountain path. He slipped in front of his wife's eyes and dropped 100 to 150 meters down a steep section.
