Thousands of demonstrators against Poroshenko

kiev - A few thousand supporters of the politician Mikhail Saakashvili, who was deported from Ukraine, went into the streets of the Ukrainian capital Kiev. They demand the resignation of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

At least 2500 people protested on the streets of Kiev on Sunday. The authorities certainly employ three thousand police officers. Hundreds of others also demonstrated in the regional capitals, particularly in the middle and west of the country.

The 50-year old Georgian ex-president Saakashvili, who is married to the Dutch Sandra Roelofs, had called for the demonstrations after he had been arrested and deported by the border guards in Kiev on Monday. He currently lives in the Netherlands.
