The tragic stabbing incident at the Mariaburcht care center in Dentergem, Belgium, resulted in the death of a 94-year-old individual, making it the third victim of the attack. The other victims were a 97-year-old and a 93-year-old man.

The suspect behind the attack is identified as a 90-year-old fellow resident of the care center, Aloïs D. Shockingly, four years ago, he had also murdered his 87-year-old wife by striking her on the head with a hammer. The suspect is currently in custody.

The stabbing took place during the night of Thursday to Friday. The elderly suspect had previously been detained for the murder of his wife in September 2021 but was released on conditions in August 2022.
