paris - A 45-year-old woman reported sexual abuse by the Swiss scientist Tariq Ramadan, who was guest professor at the Erasmus University between 2007 and 2009 and worked as an integration advisor for the municipality of Rotterdam.
It is the third woman to have filed a complaint against the professor of Islam studies in France. Because of the two previous complaints, Ramadan is provisionally detained in France.
The 45-year-old woman accuses Ramadan of several cases of violent sexual abuse between early 2013 and June 2014. Scientists' lawyers were not available for comment.
Ramadan, who also taught in Leiden and Rotterdam, is the grandson of Hassan al-Banna, the Islamic spiritual and activist who founded the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.
