The US is asking Europe for hurricane satellite images

World September 13, 2018 12:16

brussels/washington - The American emergency response service FEMA has asked the EU for satellite images of hurricane Florence. That request has been granted. Current images that the European Copernicus system has made of the American East Coast are made available by the European Coordination Center for Disaster Relief, so that Washington can map out the situation better.

This mainly concerns images from the states of Virginia and South and North Carolina, where the hurricane is expected to land on Friday morning. 'We are ready to offer more help', says EU Commissioner Christos Stylianides (Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management). 'European solidarity knows no bounds. '
