The most distant photo ever made

baltimore - An American space probe has made the farthest picture ever. At 6.1 billion kilometers from Earth, beyond Pluto, the New Horizons made a few images. First one of a so-called open star cluster (nicknamed De Wensput), then of two boulders that revolve around the sun.

The old record was in the hands of the Voyager 1. On February 14, 1990, he looked behind us at our solar system. On this famous photo the earth can be seen as a faint blue dot. That is why the photo is called Pale Blue Dot.

The New Horizons was launched in 2006 and flew in July 2015 along the dwarf planet Pluto. He is now on his way to the rock block 2014 MU69 with a speed of 1 million kilometers per day. On 1 January 2019 he flies right by. The probe is now in a hibernation. He is awakened on 4 June. Around 2047, the New Horizons will reach the edge of our solar system. It is not known if he still works.
