- The German textile manufacturer Trigema has yielded to protests of animal protectors. The company stops deployment of a living chimpanzee in its advertising. Henceforth Trigema uses a computer animation of chimp Charly.
Charly, with white shirt, tie and bright red glasses, was introduced in 1990 in television commercials Trigema. His image can also be seen on company cars, t-shirts, mugs, bags and stickers.
