new orleans, louisiana, usa - A terror attack in New Orleans during New Year's celebrations resulted in 15 deaths and 35 injuries, sparking outrage and investigations.

A terror attack in New Orleans during the New Year's celebrations has left 15 people dead and 35 injured. The attack took place on Bourbon Street at 3:15 am local time when a truck plowed into the crowd. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar, then exited the vehicle and opened fire, sparking a confrontation with the police. Eyewitnesses described the horrific scene of the vehicle speeding down the street, hitting pedestrians along the way.

New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick stated that the incident was intentional and not a drunken accident. The White House has been informed of the situation, and the FBI is leading the investigation.

Following the attack, U.S. President Joe Biden emphasized that such attacks on the American people would not be tolerated. Former President Donald Trump linked the incident to illegal immigration, claiming that his previous warnings about the issue had been proven true.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry declared a state of emergency to restore safety to the city. The FBI is investigating potential links between the attacker and terrorist organizations.
