pacific ocean - North Korea's latest ballistic missile test in the Pacific Ocean has raised concerns in South Korea and Japan.

North Korea's recent ballistic missile test in the Pacific Ocean has put both South Korea and Japan on high alert. According to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), North Korea fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan.

The missiles were launched from the Ganggye area in Jagang Province at around 9:30 local time and traveled approximately 250 kilometers before falling into the sea. However, the exact number of missiles fired was not disclosed.

Meanwhile, the Japanese government confirmed North Korea's missile test. Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary, Yoshimasa Hayashi, stated that Japan, the United States, and South Korea continue their trilateral cooperation, including real-time data sharing. He also mentioned that no missiles have been confirmed to have landed on Japanese territory or in its exclusive economic zone, and no damage reports have been received.

Hayashi emphasized that North Korea's ongoing missile tests pose a threat to Japan, the region, and international peace and security. He pledged to continue working closely with the U.S., South Korea, and other countries to collect necessary information and conduct surveillance activities.

North Korea's recent missile test was seen as a message to the incoming U.S. administration of President-elect Donald Trump. The country had previously conducted a test of a hypersonic medium-range ballistic missile on January 6, boasting speeds 12 times faster than the speed of sound.
