villach, austria - A 14-year-old boy was killed in a knife attack in southern Austria, with four others injured. A 23-year-old man of Syrian background has been arrested.

Stabbing Incident in Villach

A 14-year-old boy was tragically killed in a knife attack that took place on a square in the city of Villach, Austria. Four others were injured, with two in critical condition.

The suspect, a 23-year-old man of Syrian descent, was apprehended after a witness to the attack hit him with a car. The police described the incident as unprecedented in their 20 years of work.

Witnesses likened the scene to a horror movie, describing how the attacker swiftly emerged from a car and began assaulting people. The Austrian political parties, including the far-right FPÖ, called for stricter asylum policies in response to the incident.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and it is uncertain if there was any prior connection between the suspect and the victims. Authorities are investigating the possibility of additional accomplices in the stabbing.

The suspect, reportedly an asylum seeker residing legally in Austria, is currently under scrutiny by law enforcement.
