Teen arrested for bomb threat Mechelen

A 17-year old Belgian was arrested Monday in connection with a false bomb threat in the Belgian city of Mechelen. Which announced the local police. Six schools were evacuated, but after close inspection there was nothing suspicious found.

11. Just before 00 pm the bomb threat came in. It was then decided to evacuate the schools. All students, totaling nearly four thousand were brought to safety. The rest of the day they were free because the buildings were thoroughly checked. For students who could not get home care was arranged.

Police said earlier that it was clear that the bomb threat had nothing to do with terrorism.

The arrested boy was already in the crosshairs of previous similar bomb threats, two in Mechelen and Leuven. If the boy was a student of one of the schools and for what reason he made the bomb threat is not yet clear.
