afghanistan - The Taliban in Afghanistan has announced a new rule restricting women from talking to each other, yet another oppressive measure in their ongoing efforts to marginalize women.

The Taliban in Afghanistan has introduced a new rule prohibiting women from 'hearing each other.' Minister of 'morality' Khalid Hanafi made the announcement earlier this week. Human rights activists argue that this rule effectively bans women from conversing with each other, adding to a long list of measures aimed at suppressing women.

According to the minister, women are also not allowed to pray out loud, especially if they are within earshot of others. The enforcement of further restrictions on women is still unclear, but Hanafi claims it is 'the will of Allah'.

Earlier, the Taliban announced the reinstatement of stoning as a punishment for women who do not comply with the rules. This brutal tradition, still practiced in some Islamic countries, involves burying women halfway and stoning them in public until they bleed to death.

Since the Taliban regained power in 2021, Afghanistan has regressed significantly, resembling medieval times. Women are now required to be fully veiled, forbidden from speaking to men, prohibited from owning smartphones, driving cars, or participating in sports. They can only go outside under male supervision.

Furthermore, television broadcasts featuring speaking individuals have been banned, with the latest directive to women being an audio message. Women in the country describe their daily lives as 'a form of torture,' according to reports from The Telegraph.
