wurzburg - A young Syrian refugee who became famous for a selfie with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, stops his lawsuit against Facebook. He blamed the company enough to have acted against the abuse of his picture, but he now wants to concentrate on his exams German.

His lawyer said Monday also know that the process can also be dangerous for the family of his 19-year-old client in Syria and Germany. Anas M. fled in 2015 to Germany. He went with Merkel last year the picture when the chancellor visited a refugee camp.

The Syrian later discovered that the photo was fully exploited by social media. He was, among other things falsely linked to several attacks and fire stabbing of a homeless man. It often involved attempts to besmirch the reputation of Merkel and refugees.

A judge ruled earlier this month that Facebook slander by third parties can not be faulted. The Syrian had been able to appeal. But the costs are too much for him.
