syria, moscow - According to Financial Times, Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad reportedly sent 21 planes filled with cash to Moscow between 2018 and 2019. The majority of the money, in the form of dollars and euros, was allegedly used for luxury purchases and military acquisitions.

Financial Times recently revealed that Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad orchestrated the transfer of a significant amount of cash to Moscow in 2018 and 2019. The funds, primarily in the form of US dollars and euros, were reportedly part of the Assad family's financial transactions.

During this period, Assad also purportedly acquired several luxurious apartments in central Moscow, raising questions about the origin and intended use of the money. Additionally, some of the cash is believed to have been allocated for military procurements, further complicating the situation.

One particular incident in 2019 involved a plane transporting ten million US dollars in 100-dollar bills through Moscow's Vnukova airport. Another flight the same year carried an additional 20 million euros in 500-euro notes. This unusual method of transporting cash was reportedly necessitated by the sanctions imposed on Syria, making traditional bank transfers impossible and prompting the reliance on physical currency.
