Syrian army encircles last IS-bolwerk

beirut - The Syrian army has surrounded Albu Kamal, his last ally, the last major bolster of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group. The army has begun to enter, reported the television station al-Manar Wednesday.

The caliphate has been almost completely destroyed in Syria over the last two years. Only in Albu Kamal on the border with Iraq and a few neighboring towns and some isolated desert sections remained the terrorist organization.

Last week, Iraqi forces also took in al-Qaim, a place near the border with Syria and not far from Albu Kamal. The terrorist organization has in Iraq so far known only the village of Rawa. That is, like al-Qaim, on the Euphrates River in the border with Syria.
