stockholm - The Swedish police boarded the Chinese ship Yi Peng 3, suspected of sabotaging communication cables in the Baltic Sea. Representatives from Germany, Finland, and China are also conducting an investigation on the ship, which has been stationary for a month in the Kattegat area.

The Swedish police boarded the ship Yi Peng 3 on Thursday to investigate allegations of cable sabotage. Representatives from Germany, Finland, and China joined the investigation as the ship has been stationary in the Kattegat for a month. A Danish observer is also present due to the ship being in the Danish economic zone.

In mid-November, two crucial communication cables were damaged in the Baltic Sea. The focus of the investigation turned to the Chinese cargo ship Yi Peng 3, which had passed the cables when they broke and anchored in the Kattegat. Despite Swedish requests, the ship remained stationary for a month, prompting Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson to seek clarity from China.

Surveillance ships from Sweden, Denmark, and Germany have been monitoring the vessel. After a diplomatic meeting, a breakthrough in the investigation seems imminent. The Chinese authorities are leading the onboard investigation, with other representatives overseeing the process. The Swedish police's role is observational, with no active measures taken aboard.

To gather more information, Swedish forces have conducted underwater research in the Baltic Sea, collecting images, footage, and technical evidence. It is theorized that the ship may have damaged the cables with its anchor. The investigation continues as the ship remains under scrutiny.
