- Toots Thielemans gets its own metro station in Brussels. The current station Anneessens, in the south of the city, will kick off in 2019 and is then named after the Belgian jazz musician, who died in 2016.

The station is located near the Marollen district, where Toots grew up and came into contact with music and oral harmonics. 'Toots was a real Brusseleir who grew into a cultheld with world fame. He made music with people and for the people, 'said the Brussels Minister for Mobility. 'Give him a private subway station, so close to the place he grew up, is the appropriate tribute of our city to this amazing artist and man. 'Some other Belgian icons like Jacques Brel and Eddy Merckx suggested him. Also, they were already named a subway station.

Thielemans died last year at the age of 94. He played with the great ones, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Joel, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Charlie Parker and Benny Goodman.
