Strache re-elected as leader of the Freedom Party

klagenfurt - With 98.7 percent of votes, Heinz-Christian Strache Saturday re-elected as leader of the right-wing populist Freedom Party in Austria. The vote took place at the party convention with nearly seven hundred members in Klagenfurt.

Strache, leader of the Freedom Party since 2005. The party governs in two of the nine Länder. The FPÖ is critical of Europe and draws on immigration. In the race for the presidency of Austria last year lost Norbert Höfer of the Freedom Party of Alexander Van der Bellen, a former leader of the Greens.
