Stef Blok impressed by Mike Pompeo

brussels - Minister of Foreign Affairs Stef Blok (VVD) is impressed by the first performance of his new American colleague Mike Pompeo on the international stage. He calls it 'an illustration of the importance that the US attaches to NATO', that Pompeo did not visit the Foreign Ministers of the Alliance in Brussels until about twelve hours after his appointment. 'Impressive', says Blok.

Pompeo's appointment was approved by the US Senate on Thursday afternoon, and the minister immediately boarded the plane to Brussels. Blok said that Pompeo was 'very interested and well informed' about the topics on the NATO agenda. It was also Blok's first NATO meeting. Blok reported on his recent visit to Moscow, where he expressed his deep concern about the Russian role in Ukraine and Syria.
