berlin - The upcoming German government will need to carefully consider whether the right-wing party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) should be banned, according to SPD leader.

SPD Leader Urges Investigation into Possible AfD Ban

The new German government set to take office soon will have to thoroughly examine whether the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) should be banned, stated SPD leader Klingbeil. He emphasized that the AfD poses a threat to Germany and democracy.

Extremist Label for AfD

The national intelligence service in Germany recently classified the right-wing AfD as extremist. Current Chancellor Olaf Scholz also cautioned against rushing into any decision to ban the party.

AfD party leaders, the second-largest party in this year's elections, argue that the intelligence service's classification is politically motivated.
